Cipe Pineles, I am so glad I found you. Enjoying this book! The story of how it came to press is fascinating and best told by Maria Popova in her blog, The Marginalian. I’m not even going to try to tell her story. Read Maria’s excellent essay! Cipe’s claim to fame is as an art director for magazines: Vogue, Seventeen, Charm, so many publications were shaped by her design vision. But she also painted in gouache and watercolor.
